Annie Mason

Local Coordinator - Argyll and SAMS

I moved to Scotland in 2022, initially living on a small island. I joined HISA as the Local Coordinator for Argyll & SAMS in November 2025, after a varied career. My previous experience consists predominantly of hospitality and retail, but also support work, admin, archaeology, copy writing, and teaching!

After dabbling in the study of Fine Art, I joined academia as a mature student, completing a Foundation degree, BA (Hons.) Archaeology & Anthropology, and MPhil (Masters by Research) in my hometown of Bristol.

I work for HISA because I enjoy trying my hand at a wide range of things and crucially want to do something which makes a positive impact on the world, even if it is just for one student. My role here at HISA is a part-time one, which suits me as I am hoping to begin a PhD in the autumn.

I am endeavouring to use my different experiences of academia (as a mature student, in ‘widening participation’, as a PGR, and as a teacher) as well as in a range of different vocations to inform the ways that I work within HISA and UHI to support students in all the many different ways that would best suit their individual needs.
